THE JUDGING PANEL

For 2027, the Modern Claims Awards will operate a two-stage judging process designed to ensure every entry is assessed fairly, independently and on its own merit.

The Process

how the judging works

STAGE ONE

1

Once nominations have closed, all entries will be reviewed and scored by our Stage One judging panel.

The judges will assess each nomination against the relevant award criteria.

Following Stage One, the highest-scoring entries in each category will progress to Stage Two for further assessment.

STAGE TWO

The entries progressing from Stage One will then be reviewed by our Stage Two judging panel. Stage Two is a clean slate. No scores or marks from Stage One will be carried forward. The Stage Two judges will independently review and score the progressing entries against the relevant award criteria.

The Stage Two scores will determine the official Modern Claims Awards shortlist, which will then be confirmed and published online ahead of the Modern Claims Awards 2027. The final shortlist is only determined once Stage Two judging has been completed.

INDEPENDENT JUDGING

All judging is carried out individually and independently. There is no collective judging meeting or group discussion where views can be influenced or steered. Each judge submits their own scores against public criteria.

CONFLICTS OF INTEREST

All judges are required to declare professional, commercial or personal conflicts of interest. Where a conflict exists, the judge will not assess the relevant entry or category. Individual category allocations are not published.
